Record screen on Windows 10 without programs Xbox Game Bar

 

Many times we need to record the Windows screen and we don't have any program to do it at that moment. Does this mean that there is no way to do it? Well, there is one and we don't need to install software. What's more, we will record what happens on the monitor through Windows 10 itself.
Windows 10 is an operating system that not only serves as a platform on which to install programs and applications with which to carry out your tasks, it also includes some hidden tools that will be very useful, such as recording videos of your PC screen without having to install any additional program.

Before the arrival of Windows 10, it was necessary to install an additional program to record on video everything that happened on your PC screen, but since its launch a useful recording function has been included.

This function was initially integrated so that players could record and share their games quickly and easily, but its usefulness quickly spread to other areas.

Screen recording on your computer is not only useful for sharing your best video game sessions, you can also use it as a tool to create an improvised video tutorial. Its use is very simple and intuitive, but we will tell you step by step how to record the screen in Windows 10 without additional programs.

Activate and configure the game bar in Windows 10

Since the function of recording the computer screen was initially designed for gamers to share their games, it is logical to think that the recording tool is found in the most "gamer" part of the Microsoft operating system, which is none other than the Xbox app integrated by default in all versions of Windows 10.

As a general rule, the Game Bar that allows you to record your PC screen is activated by pressing the Windows + G key combination. If this shortcut does not activate it, it is possible that you have disabled it.

To turn it back on, just do the following:

Go to Windows 10 Settings by pressing Windows + I.

Now go to Games and you will see that you will automatically be in the Xbox Game Bar section.

Activate the switch at the top of this section so that the bar is displayed when you perform the corresponding keyboard shortcut.

You will see a section called Keyboard Shortcuts where you will see the different keyboard shortcuts preconfigured by Windows, as well as being able to create your own if you want.


If you click on the Captures menu on the left of your image, you'll see important parts that you should also know about.
Here you can see where the captures you make when you record with the Xbox Game Bar are saved and you can change to another folder that interests you.
In Background Recording, you can activate it so that it keeps recording for the time you program.
In Recorded Audio, you will activate or deactivate if you want what is playing on the computer to be heard in the resulting video.
Finally, you can select the audio quality, if you want to record only the game audio and not your microphone (if you have one), the fps (frames per second) at which you want the recording to run and the quality of the recording.

As you can see, this bar can be configured so that what we record is exactly how we want, being able to customize a good number of facets.
